Today we have something new - new for the podcast and new for the industry. I sat down with Amanda Blumenthal who is one of a handful of people working in the new position called “Intimacy Coordinator.” She is currently working on the HBO show called Euphoria. She breaks down for us what that job really entails, how her unique background, education and work history prepared her perfectly for it, and the real need for this position on a set. It makes total sense and it’s one of those things that makes you hit your forehead with your palm and ask why haven’t we always had this!? You can reach Amanda via her website here: intimacycoordinator.com.

Episode 86: Shannon and Tia Ayers

January 23, 2018 by Julie Harris Oliver in Comedy, Commercials, DGA, Digital content, Diversity, entertainment, entrepreneur, Film & TV, film festivals, hollywood, Independent Film, PGA, webseries, WGA, women, Writers, youtube influencer

Shannon and Tia are writing/producing partners under the company Borndreamer. They came up separately through production and comedy, while still making viral videos and other projects together, until they decided to relaunch the company their mother started years ago. Together, they made the film Firm with a Purpose, which was the Audience Favorite at the Women in Comedy Festival in 2017, and screened last night at the Women in Film Annual Shorts event.

We had a funny and thoughtful conversation that ranged from competitions and collaboration, to motherhood and bias.  What does success really mean? And if you say, “Well, I guess I’m a badass,” are you?

They are launching a podcast called Sister Stuff soon, where they will be telling stories, talking about their journey in filmmaking and trying to make each other laugh. You can follow them and find out more at borndreamer.com.

Episode 36: Diana Chang, Producer

March 14, 2017 by Julie Harris Oliver in entertainment, Film & TV, hollywood

Diana is a Producer in the world of short form and social media. She currently works at the Food Network as a video producer for their Snapchat Discover channel.  At the time of this interview, she was at Mashable, creating Snapchat and social media content every single day.  As she said, the internet lived in her office. The pace is fast and furious and creativity is constant.  So fast, there doesn’t seem to be much time to discriminate.  That’s the good news.

This is a quick episode, but mostly because we talked really fast.
